Description
What to Expect from the Blood Group Test
The Blood Group Test, also known as ABO typing, is conducted in-store and aims to determine your blood group. There are four main blood groups, namely A, B, AB, and O. Your blood group is determined by the inherited genes from your parents and the presence of specific proteins on the surface of your red blood cells.
Each blood group can be either RhD positive (+) or RhD negative (-), resulting in a total of eight blood groups. The most common blood group is O, which is found in approximately 48% of the UK population.
Please note that this test typically takes 2 to 3 days for the results to be available.
Conditions Identified by this Test
Blood Cells: A full blood count, which is part of this test, can provide insights into your overall health and help identify various conditions such as infections, anemia, and leukemia.
Blood Group: The test determines your blood group among the four main types (A, B, AB, and O) and whether it is RhD positive or RhD negative, resulting in a total of eight blood types.
